DESIGN OBJECTIVE
The existing kitchen in this uniquely quirky terrace house in the city was lacking function, with a galley configuration and oddly shaped bulkhead. The owners, who have two teenage children, wanted to create a space where family and friends can come together and sumptuous meals can be crafted. The new kitchen needed to complement the existing colourful aesthetic of the house,
whilst remaining timeless for future appeal.
SOLUTION
The original timber flooring and the view were the starting point for my colour selection. The rich, warm honey tones from the floor were reflected in the stone bench top, backsplash tile grout, timber floating shelf, and pendant lights.
From there, I selected a complementary palette, using a deep green for the base joinery, and a combination of light grey and white for the rest of the joinery. By adding an island bench and extending the wall where the fridge is, we were able to add much needed storage, including a generous sized pantry and appliance cupboard.
We then wrapped the joinery around the corner to include a buffet, serving as a seamless extension to the kitchen. The Bora induction cooktop has a down draft exhaust, eliminating the need for a range
hood.

DESIGN OBJECTIVE
This kitchen design was a part of a whole house renovation in Lloyd Street, Merewether. Splitting an existing three level home into two separate dwellings; the brief for this project was to create a luxurious home befitting it’s beautiful location with sweeping northerly coastal views. The design concept for the home was inspired by the movement of the ocean, the undulation of sand dunes and the existing curved architecture of the home.
SOLUTION
A coastal aesthetic is about natural textures and a calming palette. I used timber accents on the wall-hung cupboards and face of the kitchen island, Corian Sandstorm for the bench tops and splash back and we finished the look off with Sussex Brushed Platinum Gold tap ware and coordinating handles. The pattern in the Corian subtly mimics the movement of lapping ocean waves and the curve of the kitchen island reflects the curvature of the balcony.
